From its inception Birmingham’s history has been enriched by the contributions of the
substantial African American population. The Ballard House Project interprets and
celebrates African American achievements in the fields of cultural and industrial arts,
scientific endeavors, and social justice advocacy, through public programs, exhibitions, oral histories and related research.
Ballard House is a valuable venue for civic engagement.
